Mi A2 and A2 lite are a great phone from the Xiaomi. Xiaomi has launched both smartphones with massive specifications especially the MI A2. Xiaomi MI 2 Lite is not launched globally; the device is currently available only in China. Well, we have not come here to discuss the specification of both devices. We all know that all the smartphones of Xiaomi are great because all phones come with high specification at a low cost.

Now after launching the Pixel 3, Google unveiled a new camera design on his devices. The google camera app brings some amazing features like portrait mode, Night Sight mode, Photo Sphere and many more. Now everyone wants to install Google Camera on their device so if you are a Mi A2 and A2 lite user then how you can install Google camera on it.

In order to install the Google Camera port on MI A2 and A2 lite, you must first enable the Camera2API on your Xiaomi devices. If your Android Phone (MI A2 and A2 lite) is rooted, then it’s quite easy to Enable the camera2API on it. But if your MI A2 is not rooted and you don’t want to root it then follow the below step carefully.

Enable Camera2 API on Mi A2 and A2 Lite


In order to install Pixel Camera (Google Camera) on your MI device, you first need to boot a Magisk patched boot image temporary Root the device. Don't worry you can easily Unroot when the Camera2 API enabled, and you will continue to receive OTA updates as before. Let’s start the process.

First of all, download the Magisk patched Boot Image. 

  • Mi A2 (jasmine_sprout)

  • V10.0.7.0.PDLMIXM:

  • Mi A2 Lite (daisy)

Make sure the ADB drivers are installed on your PC.

Now Open the ADB driver folder.

Hold the SHIFT key and right-click on the folder

Select the ‘Open PowerShell window here’ option

Power off your Xiaomi Mi A2/A2 Lite completely

Now boot Mi A2 and A2 Lite into Fastboot mode by holding Down the Volume and Power buttons together.

Connect your Mi A2 or A2 lite to PC via the USB cable.

Now type the first command to boot the Magisk patched boot Image on your device temporarily.

  • fastboot boot boot-image-filename.img


Make sure to replace ‘boot-image-filename.img.‘ with the actual filename.

Now Install a Terminal Emulator (Termux) on your phone.

After installing launched the Termux.

Grant Superuser permission.

Finally, enter the following commands to enable the Camera2 API on MI A2/A2 lite.

  • setprop persist.camera.HAL3.enabled 1

  • setprop persist.vendor.camera.HAL3.enabled 1

  • setprop persist.camera.stats.test 5

  • setprop persist.vendor.camera.stats.test 5

  • Once the commands have executed successfully, reboot your Device to unroot completely.

Download Google Camera for Xiaomi Mi_A2


Now your work is almost done.

Now download Google Camera APK file for MI A2 and Mi A2 lite.

Move this downloaded file into your device internal storage.

Install the APK file as like the normal APK file.

Once the APK is installed got to app drawer section and launched the Google camera.

That’s it finally the Google Camera is installed on your device.
